Create beautiful jewel mini purses without a stitch! Make one for every outfit or occasion or for a special gift. Personalize with your colors and favorite embellishments.
1) Handle: Decide whether you want to use the cording handle that comes with the purse or it can be cut off and another handle added later.
2) Coloring the bag: Choose the colors of Lumiere® paint. Use a brush or your fingers to apply the paint to the surface of the bag. Blend the colors together as desired. Colors can be applied as a solid color area or “smudge” a bit of the colors here and there over the surface of the purse. If you are using the cording handle that came with the purse, you can also add color to it with the paint.
3) Nail heads: Nail heads are added to the purse by placing it in position on the outside of the purse. Press the prongs through to the inside. Use a hard stick (craft stick) to bend the prongs down flat to the surface. Repeat for each nail head.
4) Large beaded areas: Use the Gem-Tac™ to glue all beads and embellishments in position. To do a large area, apply the glue to the area in whatever shape you want the beads to flow. Place any large pieces, such as mirrors, cabachons, rhinestones down in the adhesive first. Place the purse on a piece of paper or paper plate. Sprinkle the small bead mix all over the adhesive area. Let it set for a minute and pick it up to allow the excess beads to fall onto the paper to be used again. Continue adding bead areas or clusters as desired.
5) Beaded trim: If you wish to use beaded trim, it can be attached with the Gem-Tac™. You can glue down a strip of beaded trim and then add clusters of beads and embellishments to cover the ribbon band from the trim.
6) Handles: New corded handles can be added by tying a knot at each end of a 1 yard piece. Use the Gem-Tac™ to glue each knot to the inside edge at each side. Fiber handles, with the fiber going all the way around the purse are done by applying the Gem-Tac™ around the edge of the purse first. Begin at the bottom, center of the purse. Lay the fiber into the glue going towards the top edge. Lay the other end into the glue heading to the top edge in the other direction. The handle loop will be at the top with fiber circling the the edges of the purse. Beaded handles are the only time you will need needle and thread. Tie a knot a one end and stitch through one side of the purse edge. String beads onto the thread as desired and stitch into position at the other edge when desired length is reached.
7) Wire embellishments: Any wire embellishments can be attached with the Gem-Tac™. Use a needle nose pliers to make the beginning center of a flat swirl. Swirl the opposite end. Make sure the piece is as flat as possible before gluing to the purse. Any shape of wire can be added. You can leave sections of the wire extending over the edges of the purse. You can then attach the handle or hang beaded fringe from it.
Tips: The Gem-Tac™ will dry clear, so do not worry if the wet glue shows.
Make sure that all glue is dry before you add nail heads and will have
to turn the pure inside out to secure the prongs.
