Instructions: Lasting Impressions paper
comes in the 8.5x11 size. Using my paper trimmer, I cut two half inch
strips of the gold check paper, one half inch strip of the gold mini
dot paper and one half inch strip of the gold large dot paper. I then
lined them up around the outside edges of my white cardstock to create
a border for my page.
Next I cut random-sized
strips of the green 12x12” Doodlebug papers with my paper trimmer. To
give the strips an uneven, “stacked” look, I used my microtip scissors
to randomly snip off the ends of the strips in differing lengths. As
you snip, be sure the finished strips will meet and/or overlap the
gold edges of your layout’s borders. Layer your green patterned and
solid strips over and under each other as shown. Adhere to the page.
Next, take the leftover
edges from your green patterned/solid strips and adhere them to the
top underside corners of your photo so that the edges overlap randomly
around your picture. Adhere the photo to the gold mini dot paper.
Using your paper trimmer, cut around around your photo, extending the
bottom of your photo mat several inches. (For this project, I used a
5”x7” photo and cut the gold mini dot paper to approximately 8 ¼”w x 8
½”h.)
In the center of your
extended photo mat, poke your micro tip scissors into the paper. Using
your fingers, tear out the center slowly, pulling the paper toward
you. Tear so that it is larger in the center and narrow toward the
ends. (Tip: It may help to lightly sketch the area you want to tear
with a pencil before you tear. Use the pencil line as a guide while
you tear.)
Adhere green Magic Mesh to
a piece of plain vellum. Adhere the vellum to the backside of the torn
mat so that the mesh shows through to the front. Layer Fabric Puff
Flowers above and under the photo mat onto the mesh as shown. I used
Glue Dots’ Pop Dots for dimension.
To create the sunflowers,
I chose to use a 1/16” hole punch to punch random holes in the flower
centers. This means you will stretch the holes somewhat as you put the
eyelets through the holes. Normally I would use an 1/8” hole punch
with these eyelets, but I found that especially with the larger
flowers, using the 1/16” punch left me more fabric in the center for
the multiple eyelets to “grasp.”
Cut random paper “bits”
and collage them in the bottom corners of your photo mat. Adhere the
entire mat to the layout as shown.
Print the title “Sunbeams”
onto vellum. Cut around the letters with the micro tip scissors and
mount on top of 4 torn strips of vellum. (Tip: I used an acid-free
spray glue by Crafts, Etc. to adhere the title across the photo. It
helps the vellum strips to keep their opaque nature as they go across
the photo.) |
